Meet Us
Hi, my name is Amin Ben Khaled and I’m a first year law student at the University of Alberta! I have always had a hunger for knowledge and what better way to feed that hunger than books. In the midway point of the Winter 2020 school semester, my university was forced into a closure due to the COVID-19. It was our duty to quarantine in order to fight back against the pandemic, however that came with issues of its own. Our daily lives of seeing family and friends was put to a halt and replaced by feelings of loneliness. This is why I founded the Small Town Book Club in order to bring together fellow book lovers under one virtual roof. Together but separate, we’ll save lives and continue to socialize.

Abbi - Community Outreach
Hi there, My name is Abbi Gayle. I joined this book club in order to get more involved in my community and meet new people while juggling school and work. During the pandemic this club has become a valuable, virtual support system and I’m grateful to be involved in the many intellectual and enriching conversations that take place. During these unprecedented times, many are battling loneliness and isolation. Through my position as community outreach liaison I have been given the opportunity to help , by spreading our message of inclusivity and togetherness.

Hi! My name is Alexandria, and I recently graduated from the University of Alberta with a bachelor’s degree in Arts Psychology. I loved reading fiction as a child, but since starting university, I haven’t made time for it. So, I’m excited about joining this book club and getting back into reading. This book club means a lot to me, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. I expect that it will be a way to connect with others during these isolating times. As a community outreach liaison, I am responsible for informing and recruiting any potential members
